  • thinking of buying 83 z28

i might be able to buy a very clean 83 z28. its has no rust, great paint, good t-tops, new rims and tires, fuel cell ( i dont know why ) and a 355 ( suppose to be a rebuilt 350 truck motor bored .30 over) low mile 700r4, for 1000$

    its needs

full exhuest. ( has nothing at all)
needs new injection ( has CFI but bogs and dies when giving throttle, but starts and idles)
fuel line and pump ran from cell.

i only have 1k for parts. can it be done is the real question im asking? i already have a rmp intake and 650cfm carb.

    Very possibly.

But as you go through it, you'll continue to find gremlins that require $$$.

But it sounds like a decent start.

It's a good deal if it is truely rust free. Hard to find these cars now without cancer.

          heres the craigslist posting

          http://detroit.craigslist.org/ctd/985397739.html

ive talked to him twice. its has no rust besides a penny size circle on the b pillar. ( very easy fix) but i was looking at what it takes to swap from CFI to carb and its gonna be more then i thought. (pump, lines, distubutor, (already have carb and intake) plus needs full exhuast system. has nothing. and fuel line ran. but gas can be dumped into the CFI to hear it ideal. so im worried it could have a bad trans or rearend or bad motor. but he said everything is good. so idk what to do

hes asking 1600 (im gonna offer 1k) but its gonna cost about 1500$ for exhuast, carb swap, plus ods and ends. this is if i do everything myself besides getting a cat bypass pipe welded in.

I'd say do it! Don't know if you need a car right now, but if not, then you'll have a great project.

i know im so tempted. but i dont know if ill have enough money for the fuel and exhuast work need. i guess i could get and just do work here and there.

what would i do to delete a cat. just clamp a pipe on or get one welded in? i really dont wanna spend money on something i dont want.

                    thanks

oh yeah, that is $2500 Canadian, so it is actually $2000 US for you.

I installed 85-90 nose, newer interior, etc as you can see in the pics
