  • 1989 TA Indy

I spotted this on Ebay; for sale in Novi. As I recall, this TA was recognized as one of the fastest American production cars. The Ebay listing for this modified TA says it does a 12.10 1/4 mile. I thought it was interesting enough to share... Reserve not met at +$9000... How much do you think it will go for in the next couple days?

I dug up some info on this TA. There were 1555 made, rated 250 (actual 301HP), Variant of GN/GNX engine. The three cars which did pace car duty were the first in the history of the Indianapolis 500 to do so with no performance modifications whatsoever. (They did get safety mods.) Most were T-tops, but there were 40 hardtops made. There was one later converted to a convertible. All were white, except for two pilot cars that made it into private hands. (colors unknown)

I would love to have one of these and have been tracking them for the last couple of years.

Driver condition with 90K miles will bring 9,000.

Average + condition with 50-70K miles will bring around 15,000.

Showroom condition with 5-15K miles (with all documentation) will bring around 30,000.

Be forewarned that they have a bunch of unique parts to them and are not easy (i.e. cheap) to return to showroom condition.

However, if you want to mod one out, you're only limited by your imagination.
