tranny question

i have a 1984 trans am ws6 it came stock with a 305 HO and a 700r4 trans. i did a motor swap and put in a 1977 350 that i had bored 60 over with camelback heads domed pistons a bigger cam and a stronger crank. recently i decided that the car was becoming more of an investment than i can handle so i sold it to my dad. but he ran into a small roadblock when he was setting it up for a big block swap. he wants to put a 350 turbo tranny in it but we cant figure out if the 700r4 is stand alone or if the computer controls the shifting. so if anyone can help me out with this i would greatly appreciate it.

i think the 700R4 go's by a shift cable on your throttle Plate So the computer doesnt Shift it, Thats 4l60e And up for the computers

4l60e is a 700r4 with the computer.

Downshifts are controlled by the throttle valve and your lock-up converter is controlled by the computer. TH350 swaps are very common in these cars, not a problem.
