Well I've been getting some work done to the car for once! About 2 weeks ago I picked up a ton of parts for the swap. I picked up a 2000 5.3L truck engine with 80,000 miles on it but it is complete and very well taken care of. I also picked up a BRAND NEW 4L60E with torque converter adn new electrical plugs. And then an LS1 oil pan (thanks to Transamsfast) and a set of LS1 exhaust manifolds (thanks to LYNEMUP2KWS6). As of now I have the entire underside of the car undercoated and the rearend painted. I am just waiting on my plastic gas tank to arrive and then I can put that in and the rear end too. Other than that I am going to strip and paint the engine bay this week and then get the motor in this weekend. The goal is to start the motor on April 25th, so we will see how it goes. O and a friend of mine decided he didnt want his console out of his TA anymore so I traded him some parts he needed for it and now I have a 4th gen console to go with the dash!! and man does it make the interior look sexy!!!! Anyway here are a few pics of the parts and my interior. I'll post some more pics this week and this weekend as the car comes together. Sorry about the pic quality I didnt have my actual camera with me so there good old cell phone pics.

Thanks for all the support guys! I got most of the engine bay cleaned out and all the wires unclipped and ready to be unplugged tonight. So tmrw its looking like ill be able to fill in the wholes where the header core used to be and then start stripping the old paint off and getting it ready fo paint. The only bad part about the console is that I have to dye it to match the dash better but thats no biggie.
I'll have to get some better pics tmrw for you guys. As always I'll try to keep you updated as much as I can.- 1988 Camaro IROC-Z

Finally a little update. I have been working hard on the car for the past month now and have got a lot of progress done towards getting the car on the road. As it stands right now the motor will be dropeed into the car tmrw afternoon once I get out of work. Today I pulled the old truck oil pan off and got a good look at the internals of the motor and it looks great. There are very very light signs of wear given that it has 80,000 miles on it. The only bad thing is that there is a broken exhaust manifold bolt stuck in the head but I wil be drilling that out and get the easy outs on it. Other than that I got the rear end all sanded down and painted. And the entire underside of the car is undercoated with truck bedliner. But as for the wiring, I am yet to tackle that task but I have got some lucky breaks and a friend of mine gave me all the wiring schematics for my car and for the truck engine and the complete dash wiring. So I have all the wires labeled and ready to be hooked up to the 3rd gen harness. So in the next week or so I should be able to hear the motor at least turn over and then I can check all my connections. But then I have to send out the pcm to Brian Herter of PCMs for Less. I almost forgot but I got the engine bay completely stripped down to the bare metal and then primed it and filled in all the heater openings with patch panels. Now the engine bay is in gloss black and looking a ton better!
Thats about where I stand as of today on the camaro but I will post more progres tmrw hopefully.
Thanks,
Dan- 1988 Camaro IROC-Z
