  • 4th gen wheels on a 3rd gen

I'm getting Tony's stock 4th gen wheels from his 96TA. I have a 91. Does anyone know what size spacers I will need to get?

    Thanks!

What? You don't believe me? 1.5" since they're 8" rims and not 9 or 9.5" rims. On the wider rims you need the 2" spacer.

I'm just double checking, Bart! Nothin' against you.

        I keep hearing 2", though.

That's because people usually put 17" by 9" or 9.5" wide rims on them so you need the 2" spacer for the wider rim. With a 16x8 you only need 1.5"

Exactly! I have to get 2" spacers for my wheels that are 17x9.

I might be able to build you some steel spacers when I get back to work.

Steel would be heavy as heck. All the ones I've seen are machined billet aluminum. They need to be machined to accept lugs on the car side then machined for studs on the wheel side.

it depends on the wheel offset. i have done it w/ 1.25" but the wheels were aftermarket, not stock

I'll make them out of what ever she wants.

BUT Alum. don't hold up to the stress well and she will need new ones as time goes by.
Steel = Never again and it's not like she is racing.

If I may interject... I have been running 2" aluminum spacers for four seasons now. I auto cross, road course, and drag race the car. Have not noticed a problem yet...should I be worried about a potential problem?

                              Ah, ya

I would have to get the stud spacing from your car and from mine and go from there.

We have built a fer sets for cars and 5 trucks that guy's lifted but those were 4" thick
What we will do is get the rims and put them on your car and then see just how much we will need

I have to get back to work 1st and go from there and I'm not sure when that will be
So if you need something right now then you may have to buy some
Once I'm back to work I'll have to mind my P's & Q's for a while because things are getting really tense down there so I'm thinking Nov.
