Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Here's some pics to clear up what I was talking about with the small fender mounting flange and why it had to be removed.
The flange had to be cut out the get at the back of the sheetmetal with the body hammer. Plus... it needed to be primered and cleaned up on the inside as well as straightened.
The fender is down to bare metal and ready for Bondo. (will do after I weld the support back in)
And heres the biggest ding in the fender:
Does anyone have any particular experience with a certain brand of primer/filler?
EDIT:
Got the support brace mocked up and then tacked it in (welder is almost out of gas).
On with the Bondo. Is it just me or is the smell of bondo GREAT?!

Most body fillers are about the same, my dad has used them all, and he says they all give the same results. You should use a polyurethane primer, and they are also about the same. He says that Matrix, DuPont, and Sim all make good primers and other paint products. It all depends on what kinds of stores and products are available to you.
I'm curious, is the floorpan rust just on the inside or outside too? My undercarridge isn't rusted at all, but the t-tops leak so I'm a little worried it may have rusted from the inside out..

Well... the car is a hardtop, not a T-Top. The rust is mainly on the inside. Water gets soaked up in that way-to-thick carpet insulation and just rots it away from the inside.
The spot in the footwell area is all the way through into the subframe though LOL.
It may be worth a weekend to pull your seats out and pull the carpet up.
I had to hit up the main area with another coat of bondo as I inadvertently created a major low spot with the DA (Dont use DA's for sanding!!!)
Then I got it good and sanded out, feels really straight now.
Had to fix up a crease in the metal around the side lamp, then threw some bondo on that area.
Then I hit the back lower portion and knocked it down still some bare spots started coming through. Then I tapped them down with the body hammer and flushed the rest out.
Then another, thinner, coat of bondo.
Hopefully Ill have the bondo work done this weekend so I can Ice it over and primer it. Crossing my fingers.
-End boring bodywork part
Few other things, Im pretty sure I'll be gunning for an LTx. Hopefully I can find a block, bore it .30, and buy a stroker crank. Shooting for a 383 LT4. Would like to buy the LT4 intake/heads/cam from GM and sell off the cam. Then Itll have a single turbo out front.
I know LSx is all newer and better, BUT, the Gen II is the same block as Gen I which is native to this car. Therefore, installation will be MUCH simplified. Not to mention... cheaper .
I've also decided on color: White, possibly some pearl flecks, we'll see. Rims: TT II's most likely. Id like to maintain the original GTA hood, i really like the look of them. Interior will aluminum, nice stereo, homemade dash and no heater or AC (really dont need heater... and AC is a PITA)

guys remember my s-10, 1989, that i was trying to sell? It should be in the for sale section but jeese, talk about body work. Wait till you see it hopefully it will be done this weekend.
Rolled the car out of the shed yesterday after coaxing my dad into using the rotissarie. Kenny hasnt brought his car out yet so I guess its mine for now (he's resto'ing a 396/375hp numbers matching chevelle).
Heres the beast sittin in the garage, doors are off now as well as whole front clip.
The front was hit on the drivers side which tweaked the frame horn and the headlight bucket plate so that's going to need some work. We plan to mount it to the rotissarie right on the frame horns so that had to be fixed first.
Here you can see one whole mounting hole/ear for the crash bumper was torn off and all twisted up. Got it welded back on and straightened enough to get the bumper back on.
Here I was trying to show how the radiator support is tweaked back in one spot (the rusty area is where it bent and the paint cracked off)
Yeah. Ive been eyeing my buddy Kenny's 85 firebird drag car and well, once we went over and checked it out... gotta have one. Anyways hopefully we'll be trailering his car out to martin soon and I can take it for a couple passes. It's got a 383 set back a few inches into the firewall blah blah blah all that crap. Anyways, this car is going to be a test of Hot Rod magazine's "$98 Paint Job". Hope it turns out alright
