  • Damn Fuel problems...

Ok Guys and gals.. Someone who knows anything about fuel pumps or third gens can you help me out before i shoot my self or something....

Ok started off.... One day car died... When i go to start it no fuel pump kicking in.. Ok bad fuel pump... so i thought... replace fuel pump, And replaced the relay... I checked the fuse up by the battery as well.. Ok... all is well lets fire this sucker up.. WRONG... roll over nothing... Fuel pumps not even priming.. What the hell... so i get confused check power at the relay good. Ground at the relay... Good.. I try doing power to tan/white wire (supposed to go to fuel pump).. Assuming that would make it prime.. Nothing.

Ok all mighty car gods.. PLLLLLLEEEEAAAASE help me get the damn camaro started.

Did you check for power at the tank?

Isn't that the failsafe switch in case the relay quits working?

It is fuel injected with and electric pump in the tank. Not a mechical pump on the engine like your talking about, so rod would have nothing to do with it.

No, it's the failsafe in case the oil pump quits working......no oil pressure, no fuel pump. These pressure switches sometimes go bad....it's the first place I would look after checking power at the relay.

It was ground at the pump... And I could have sworn the oil pressure switch was what got the car started if the fuel pump relay quite as well.

                    Just looked on TGO.

                    Apparently they're a parallel setup.

If one fails, the other will let the fuel pump run - if both fail, you're ****ed.

Yeah, it is - but I don't ask a lot there anymore, a lot of people are, it seems, very hostile.

if your oil pressure switch was bad the car would start just not stay running. when you cycle the key on and start it the oil press switch is bypassed b/c you usaly don't have oil pressure when the car is off.

Glad to hear you found the problem, at least you know you have a fresh pump.
