Damn im good.
Hear its 700 bones for that BBK over on TGO.
The price for used slp, accel and other tpi runners, pleneums or ported goods if F***ing ridiculous when you look on ebay. Half the stuff is in crappy condition and selling at retail prices. The best way to go is buy a complete system if your staying with TPI.
I was thinking if I bought an air compressor and the tools needed to port, all the money I saved porting the pleneum runners and intake myself would have paid for the tools....Last edited by jakes_GSXR; May 2nd, 2008, 08:50 PM.

Dremels are useless for that type of work, you need some real horsepower. Either a 3-5amp electric grinder or a pnuematic die grinder with a single cut burr...carbide is nice but not rquired on aluminum...you will also need a good cutting fluid to to keep the chips from plugging up the burr...WD40 works good but there are better options if you get serious, let me know and I can point you in the right direction.sigpicTurbo Charged LS1/T56

I've got an 87 5.7 tpi stock with 31,000 original miles. It will destroy most cars off the line and rip the tires loose going into second gear. TPI motors are all about instant gratification - but they don't keep it up above midrange. The 5.7 TPI is factory rated at 225hp and 330 lbs-ft of torque.
But if you do some small swaps: Comp cam, Hooker headers, and a chip the L98 is capable of about 330 hp and 400 lbs-ft of torque. and remain very streetable.
Then if you add in larger runners, larger injectors, and port job on the heads... who knows?
I had mine at a test and tune in Milan Last year for the heck of it... With MT slicks... I ran 13.98 at 102.5 mph... not bad for a 21 year old stock IROC-Z....
The car handles great and is a blast to drive - I'd say you'd be happy with an L98 for the time being.1987 IROC-Z 5.7 TPI

When I test drove the '88 IROC that was sold out from under me (had the 350), it did that.Originally posted by dboersma View PostI've got an 87 5.7 tpi stock with 31,000 original miles. It will destroy most cars off the line and rip the tires loose going into second gear.

How hard was it to get that cam in there? Now that I have this cutout, I'm tempted to cam it.
Did you do it in car?
I remember Car Craft (Maybe Chevy High Performance) did a cam swap on the third-gen 'maro, and I remember them removing the radiator, but I can't remember what else they did.Gone but not forgotten: 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z
