well im in a search for a car. I love lt1 4th gens but latly ive been leaning tword third gens. The problem is i never liked the tpi engines. What kind of numbers do 350 tpi's put down in tearms of power and 1/4 mile times stock? I could swap a carb set up if i wanted to correct? Its just lower fuel pressure and different ignition system right? thanks

yeah you can swap them. You could swap a TBI on as well. I think you'd b better of sticking with the TPI though.

Theres a guy on thirdgen.org who has a tpi drag Camaro. It runs 9.3 in the quarter. Then agian this is not a street legal car though.

          Never driven a 305 TPI...

I've been in a 350 TPI and it was beautiful. I know it had headers and exhaust and a K/N other than that i think stock.

All else fails if you find one for sale.. Test drive it...

well id like to make a street able low 11 to mid 10 sec car. do you think this is possible with a tpi with out a rediculous amount of money and/or boost? Thats why i was thinking big inch lsx with a cam and heads should easly get me into the 11's. if not 10's. and nothing a little spray cant fix

Ran a 14.66 with my 305 TPI back in the day. Minor bolt ons w/street tires. Doesnt matter what you start with 11 second cars are created with A LOT of money.

Takes alot of money to make a TPI style induction car fast....but it can be done. Many out there have done it.

for just an LS1 and tranny your going to be spending a few thousand... Thats for a plain stock motor/tranny.. Not including heads/cam/exhaust/fuel delivery/spray and anything else you want.. Not to mention the price of the car its self... along with getting the motor sitting inside and running.

I would say buy a car with a 350 TPI... You can put heads, cam, full exhaust, SFC's, and some machine work done for probably cheaper.... then if you had money left over could throw a alluminum driveshaft, possible posi, and tires....

If you want to be different get a 305 bored to 334 and get an LT1 head/intake combo =] Im not sure of anyone with that..

But if you have a ton of money and tiem to spend go straight to the LSX

why rear for the the 350? Well you'll have money left over compared to the lsx and could afford to get a very nice rear with posi and discs.
