I seem to have a hole on the filler neck on the gas tank. When ever I put gas in the car it leaks on the exhuast. At first it seemed to happen when I filled the tank, but now it leaks as soon as I began to put gas in the car. My question is can I replace just the filler or do I need to replace the tank also? If I have to replace the tank, do I have to drop the rearend?

Hmmm.... didn't know that. I may have to put the plastic tank in when I change the pump.Originally posted by WMCCjames View PostStock tanks are all steel and the neck is brazed to the tank, so you would have to replace the whole unit. Yes you have to drop the rear. If you replace it, use a 4th gen tank, they are plastic and fit right in without any mods.Western Michigan Camaro Club ~ President

I thought that only 99+ cars has plastic thanks. I know for a fact the 98's were still metal.Originally posted by WMCCjames View PostStock tanks are all steel and the neck is brazed to the tank, so you would have to replace the whole unit.
