  • Third Gen Weatherstripping

Ok, GM has not been showing me any love lately... Seems everytime I go to the parts counter to get something for the car, I might as well be playing the lotto because it's a gamble as to what parts have been discontinued or not yet. Man, it makes me feel old!

I am in the process of restoring a '91 Z28 w/ T-Tops. The car has been in the garage the last 4 years being torn down, yes it has been a painfully slow process. I have just recently got everything painted, and now the re-assembly is to begin. When I stripped it down, I took ALL of the weatherstripping out (the car was from California and the sun killed the paint and rubber). I have bought a new T-Top wetherstripping kit from GM (that was a pain! I couldn't find one GM dealer in town that even knew they had a kit available), but it did not come with the weather stripping retainers that are fastened to the body. I have luckily found 3 of the 4 retainers through a ton of research, but have come up short on the front passenger one.

Does anyone have any ideas or resources as to where to get these any more???? Local GM dealers of course just shrug and basically tells me I am SOL...

Any help would be so greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

Try searching online for GM Restoration parts or check places like NPD or Ecklers. I know Ecklers has a bunch of GM parts stock they've bought up. I don't know who else would have them. Check Ebay too, there's lots of GM parts new and used on there.

I just reused the retainers when I put on the new weatherstripping. It only took about 3 hours to get the old shit out of one... and then 3 hours for the other...
