Bought 81 firebird/Ta 400BB previous owner says bored 40 over has big cam(?) 670 interceptor heads(pressure teasted to 7300 also said something about just having exhaust ports(?))half the lifters had to be fabricated by hand the gold ones are normal the silver ones something done to(?) 650 carb(?) told me it needs bigger carb I think 400 turbo trans and 1800 stall also have MSD distributor to install yet my question is what should son and I be doing next

Thanks for replying yes trans is too small gave buddy that we got car from call just got stationed in Hawaii waiting for his call back about lifters,trans,carb and stall. Dont know if you have been to my profile page we have pics there.I know its alot to ask but if you have any advice or info could you give as much detail as possible Im leagally blind(everythings blurry)so evertnings done by touch n feel and sons 13 just getting into cars Thanks

Those aren't lifters, they're rocker arms... chances are they are stagger ratios... maybe to take bigger advantage of the cam, or perhaps because the cam was too big for the heads, so he ran smaller ones for clearance....you might be able to contact crane to find out what the stamping on them mean, i cant tell/dont know... most of the rockers Ive seen have the ratio stamped into them somewhere....2004 Impala LS (DD)
