  • Good Second Gen Restoration site?

My dad and I are looking at restoring our 1977 Camaro, and we need quite a few parts, replacement and aftermarket. Anyone know of a good site for me use to start planning our restoration?

Yea, need a few body panels, some interior stuff, suspension, just a basic overhaul. I'm trying to convince him on a cammed LS1+t56 swap, but I know what to do there.

Probably could get body parts from our sponsor MCHP. Perf parts through Creight.

NPD will send you a catalog. I used them in the past for parts that I cant get myself.

MCHP is a good place to start.

NPD is good as well...Year One is expensive, but from my experience, you get what you pay for through them...The Paddock is another good source, but may not have the selection the other two do...

Classic Industries probably has the largest catalog of anyone. www.classicindustries.com

The ones mentioned already are good too. Of course, ebay is always a good place to find parts as well.

You are definitely going to want to get involved with the www.nastyz28.com website. It's a 2nd Gen Camaro specific website and easily the best source of information on restoring/modifying 2nd Gen Camaros there is.

NPD is nice, decent prices, but not all of their stuff is great. I bought a headliner board from them once and it didn't fit at all. If you get any chrome trim pieces from them make sure that they aren't dented or bent before you take them.

Thanks for all the recommendations guys. Been shopping around quite a bit, and getting into Nastyz28.com. I've already learned quite a bit, such as the car is a "big bumper" car. And apparently they love LTs? Is there something special about them? I am a COMPLETE newb when I step out of the 4th gen arena.

                          "Big Bumper" Camaro = 1974 thru 1977

Type LT = Luxury Touring. It's a fancier trim level. More sound insulation, different seat material, fancier door panels, more exterior trim, etc.

Mine is a 1974 Type LT - Z28 for example.

On Nastyz28; go to the home page, click on the Model Year Info tab along the left side of the page. There you will find extensive descriptions for each year and model. Study that section and you'll learn a lot about 2nd Gen Camaros.
