  • Picked up another 2nd Gen Camaro over the weekend

My son and I made another trip to North Carloina to look for another vehicle to sell. We bought another Camaro Berlinetta this weekend. This one is a 1981 Berlinetta. A week ago we brought home a running 1980 Berlinetta and the original one we brought back in February was a 1979 Berlinetta. Strange how they were in progressive model year order and we were not just looking for a Berlinetta but rather just a decent 2nd Gen from 1978-1981. This car was bought again for the rare options. It has PW,PDL, tilt, cruise, a/c, rear defroster, rear spoiler, and a rare factory power antenna option. The deluxe interior is dirty but in real nice shape. I needed the door panels since the custom interior panels are not available in the after market and are very hard to find in this great condition. The car has a 3.8L V6 with a turbo 350 trans. Once we got it home I threw a good battery in it and some gass in the carb and it started up. I will sell the engine and trans with the rest of the car that I don't want. This one is actually in worse shape than the white Michigan car we bought a week ago so it will be stripped and junked out. Funny how this car was going to be a roundy round race car. People down there say these make great race cars. I also found 2 more 1954 Chevy 3100 pick up trucks that I will be bringing up next month to sell.

My son tries to go down there once a month. He is unemployed so he does this to help make ends meet.

That is what I also said. Maybe the person did not care about power and wanted fuel economy.

I took pictures of it but they are still in the camera. LOL! The car was originally a Michigan car from what the build sheet shown. That explains the rust it has.

Just placed an ad for parts from this car yesterday and already had 5 calls on the car. One guy came over and bought the front and rear window trim and all of the deluxe exterior stainless trim as well as a hood hinge. He said he has been looking for a long time to find good second gen parts. A couple more parts to sell and the car will be free. I removed the deluxe seats last night. I found the factory build sheet behind the rear seat back. It survived very well compared to the car. Just has a couple spots where I cannot see the optional equipment. This car has sandstone color interior. I don't know how many were built like this but the build sheet shows the car was delivered to Al Serra Chevrolet in Flint,Mi. and was shipped to the AC Spark Plug Division. That explains the car loaded with options including the rare power antenna. (7,552 with the power antenna and over 156,000 cars built in 1981). Too bad it is going to be junked out.

Last night I started to remove parts from the car. I removed both power window regulators, door lock actuators and related wiring from the doors. Wow, I forgot how heavy these regulators and door glass' are when compared to a newer vehicle. I also removed the dash pad since it is one of the best ones I have seen on a 2nd Gen parts car. This dash pad is not available even in the aftermarket. They sell just a cover for the pad. Need to remove the rear defroster back glass and wiring and cruise control set up and the tilt steering column and some plastic interior trim then I can remove the doors, fenders and core support. This one will be scrapped very soon. Also have a 2nd Gen Trans AM shaker hood scoop for sale if anyone needs one.

My son and I just about picked every part off the car over the weekend. If anyone needs any 2nd Gen Camaro parts get in contact with me. I only have a 2nd Gen Trans AM shaker hood scoop for the Pontiac people. Got a lot of nice options from this last car. Have several other parts from North Carolina vehicles also.
