I don't think it's been started since 1973, there was no mentions of even attempting to start it since then.

yeah i just got done reading all the posts by charley and aside from the 73 reference there was no other word about attempting to start it

i would hope that if they took care to heat and a/c the storage that they would have made some attempt at preserving the motor

Looking at the pics of the oil filter and drain plug they look original with the undercoating still on them.

I read the entire thread. They ARE, the oil has NEVER been Changed.

im guessing who ever bought it would rather have an original oil filter than a good engine.

It could still be a good engine, it only has 1200 miles on it. Its not like it was run with bad oil. Just going to have to change all the seals, rubber hoses, ect.

And, after I read the thread I realized you dont buy a car like that for a good motor. Its just something to have, to admire and to enjoy looking at it.

I would agree - but there are steps that could have been taken even back then to keep the engine viable.

they could have fogged the motor for storage
bagged the filter or even reused it for that matter but dump the oil every year

Yes, it has just been recently started, 2/14/09! You can even hear the interior key buzzer!!

I have been following the Yenko thread since day one, I love stuff like this and I can totally understand why someone may not start or ever drive it.

This 70 Z28 has a lot of history and documentation, right down to the original grease pen markings to help locate the painted stripes template! If you drove this car, you would probably be tempted to wash it and remove these grease pen marks. Like Ray said in the first post, this car has and will be the benchmark for many 70 Z28 restorers (LA built 70 Camaros) which has shown many, all ready, that there are way to many "over restored" 70 Z28s.



There are so many interesting "flaws" from the factory that if one were to restore this car they probably would have corrected it and to me, these corrections would be incorrect, but that is just me. If you look through the pics, you will see where the installer of the rocker trim missed the mounting hole with his screw gun and therefore scratched the rocker trim and ultimatly ran out of time and left it as the car rolled past their assembly station, cool!
