Taking my dash out to dye it. Has anyone done this on a 2nd gen? I pretty much have it off. Just not sure about the heater control unit. I really being careful not to break it cuz i dont want to replace it.

i dont know but for some reason i think a 3rd gen dash is alot easier to come by then a second gen...lol heck ive got an extra one not using it... i should take some pics of the 84 and part it out some more to you guys... anyone want the fenders with the air scoop on the side?Originally posted by Frank The TankTook the restrictor plate off to give the Red Dragon a little more juice. But it's not exactly street legal, so keep it on the down low.

I think you can get pretty much any part you want for a 2nd gen as a repro anyway, so why get a dried out 25-35 yr old piece. Why are you guys talking 3rd gens anyway?

Yeah why is it that I can hop on the net and search for parts for any V8 or 1st-3rd gen Fbodies and have what I want in like thirty seconds but I can spend hours looking for stuff for 4th Gen V6's and turn up with nada? There must be a buch of haters out there who don't like 4th Gens 3800 II's.

because he was saying that kinda stuff on a third gen is a precious commodity...lol he may be able to order most his car from year one or something but 3rd gen's proably have it made in the spare parts department right now... not so old they are rusted all the way out but old enough alot of people have given up on fixing them...
with 100 bucks and a low cut skirt i bet i could bring 2 or 3 more cars home from the junkyard.... junkyard guys are easy.. ha ha
plus the cheep aftermarket... and the amount of it... compared to the other gens it is by far the cheepest to build up for power/suspension/and resto jobs
as of now...Originally posted by Frank The TankTook the restrictor plate off to give the Red Dragon a little more juice. But it's not exactly street legal, so keep it on the down low.

Actually you can't get a 2nd gen dash. Alot of catalogs say they have them but they don't. They're still working on reproducing it. From what I hear from other 2nd genners it's been like this for like 5 years. But anyways i got my dash out w/o breaking it. Just hope i can get back in w/o breaking it.

It's out. I dyed it and it's now sitting in my basement waiting to go back in once I finish the rest of the interior. Was pretty easy. Worst part was the damn heater control panel, wasn't sure exactly what I needed to unhook on it, and eventually unhooked everything on it.
