  • How To Make A Free Manual Fan Switch!!!

    PARTS NEEDED

    20' of 10 guage wire
    a couple crimps
    toggle switch
metel connection insert for fuse box

well this is pretty easy to do. i did this on my winter car first soo here it is.

1 go to your fuse/breaker cover and lace the cool fan together with 10guage wire. ( i used THHN)

    2. run wire to blower then back to a ground ( i used the engine block)

    3. then run wires threw fire wall and use a toggle switch

i made mine by spare parts but if you didnt have i guess that it would only cost about $8-$10 all and all you save about 60 dollars

WELL I POSTED ON OTHER SITE PUT I WANTED TO SHARE SOO HERE IT IS

So where do you actually wire the toggle switch to? The ground?

Doesn't this keep the computer fan from coming on when it should?

not a 100% sure but thats why i did it on my winter car first. as you see i just laced the fuse/breakers together soo its connected as it was i think....

fact of the matter is my car has 261,000 miles on it and is on life support soo and time it gets over the half way mark im ready to turn it on, b/c it wouldnt come on till almost it hit the red at 3/4

There is a better way to do the fan switch than that..... i did it on my car and it wasnt that difficult.
This is what i did..... it cost me abotu 10$ and it looks and works great!!!
            Its off of shbox's website:

That diagram is the right way to do it and appears someone took a kit like the SLP fan kit and copied it. I've been thinking about doing it in my V6. I have the SLP kit in my SS

Are those connectors on the driver's side or the passenger side?

yup they way i posted still lets the computer turn the fans on at the temp they are supposed to. thats why it is "better".

For us non computer controlled guys that want a switch that we don't have to worry about I've used this in the past. Very simple, inexpensive, easy to install wire it in line with the power wires to the fan. Just an FYI, there are a few that cost a few dollars more but this one works well.

The SLP setup has a 3 position switch. Center is computer controlled, left is low speed constant and right is high speed constant even with the key off. It just plugs inbetween the connector on the passenger side and then you hook up the ground wire and run the wire inside to the switch. I cut out one of the blank switches on my dash and mounted it there.
