Ive heard that there are instructions on how to adjust the alarm settings in the manual, but unfortunately i dont own one. My alarm had been going off randomly which i blamed on a bad battery in the key pad. I unplugged the shock sensor to see if that fixed anything. It doesnt randomly go off anymore but now when i unlock the drivers side door manually, the alarm will go off after about 10 seconds unless i get the key in the ignition. Could anyone help me out?

Your alarm could be setup on a Active Arm mode. Active Mode arms the alarm after a certain preset time if you forget to arm the alarm yourself.Originally posted by TenaciousB View Post

The shock sensor was probably the one at fault, as it was probably too sensitive. If you're just unlocking the door but not disarming the alarm, then yeh it'll go off if you don't start the car in a fast enough amount of time. I'd say replace the battery and plug the shock sensor back in and adjust the sensitivity. I have an aftermarket one, but it's just a screw that you turn to adjust it.- Brian Meissen

No. Mine does the same thing. If you just unlock the door using the key it doesnt disarm the alarm, therfore after about 10 seconds it will activate because it realizes that the door is opened and the security is still armed so it goes off. If you are looking to adjust your sensitivity it is in the rear pass. side of the truck located next to your radio antenna and spare tire. There is a knob on it that you can turn to get it to where if the wind blows on it itll go off to where if a semi truck hit it it still wouldnt go off.1999 Pewter TransAm
