  • How much horsepower??

I was wondering if I gave you a general layout of what my girlfriend's car has can anyone give me a "general" idea of what kind of horsepower she is talking??

    2000 Trans Am
    LS1 Engine
    Automatic Transmission
    Superchip
    3.73 Gears
    Detroit Lockers
    K&N Cold Air Induction
    No Catalytic Converters
    Hi Flow Mufflers

These may make a difference in the 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times as far as sticking to the ground:
    18" American Racing Rogue Chromies
    Raptor ZR ultra-high performance tires

Could you give me a general idea of

    Horsepower
    Torque
    0-60
    1/4 mile
    1/8 mile

Thank you very much guys!! Really looking forward to some ideas of what her car is capable of. Also what benefit would other mods have such as:

    Cams
    Headers

I believe that's all she's looking at as of right now. The new rearend just set her back a pretty penny.

Any reasonable guess on the 0-60 time or 1/4 mile time?? Thanks for the promt response.

Edit; I just read this is the stock horsepower

      305 horsepower and 335 foot-pounds of torque

I was thinking that basing in those numbers right there the 305 would increase not decrease.

      No cats: 10
      Hiflow mufflers: 10
      CAI: 10
      Superchip:15

So is that completey off?? I was thinking it would be up to 360. The local technician said it could be close to 400. I said that's way off though.

well lets put it like this. 320hp stock

          superchip will gain abot 20hp

then no cats will give about 10-15hp

          so 355hp

then with 15-20% drive train loss fro, it being a 4 speed trans

i would say 284-301hp to the wheels

this is what i pulled up off some online Drag racing calulator

thi is if your car is 3400 punds and youare 160 pounds.

Horsepower Results - 1/4 Mile MethodYour camaro weighs about 3560 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 13.7 seconds. That means that you've got about 273.64 HP at the wheels, and about 355.73 HP at the flywheel.

Horsepower Results - 1/4 Mile Method
Your camaro weighs about 3560 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 13.9 seconds. That means that you've got about 262.00 HP at the wheels, and about 340.59 HP at the flywheel.

Horsepower Results - 1/4 Mile MethodYour camaro weighs about 3560 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 13.2 seconds. That means that you've got about 305.93 HP at the wheels, and about 397.70 HP at the flywheel.

thats just some thing i put together to give you a idea. The car does not have any real big mods. you may run faster with a 3.73 or slower but this is a avg.

so With that math i would say 13.2-13.5 1/4
If you just get a cam ,porting& ploishing, and good tune. you will hit 12's easy

Mid to low 13's in the 1/4. Higher if you planned on running those 18's down the track. It also depends on tires and driver experiance. Hope those 3.73's aren't in a 10 bolt.

Hahaha....if the priced wasn't 20k it'd be on my dream list. But it couldn't even make that list. I'm hoping for low 14's by the end of this year. Stock is 15.8 quarter mile.

IMO solstices can't hold up to the V8s anyways because they're too light. I heard even with the LS2 conversion you have to start in 2nd gear to get decent times of 12.8 seconds. I think I'll just keep to my lightweight four banger. I'm looking into a turbo system that would get me to 340 rwhp though right now. That plans a couple years away though most likely.

Those wheels/tires will shag your 1/4 mile times. it will be hard to cut a good 60 foot with them. the 18s just have no sidewall give, 17s are bad enough for a rear-drive car. 15s or 16s are the ticket for a drag radial on a rear drive car. you need some sidewall flex to help out the traction situation.

a good cam, headers and custom tune will take that thing a LONG way. 23x/23x .60x/.60x lift can get that car into the 11s with a good short time. ls1's love cams.... something like the F13 on a 112LSA (with supporting bits) would make something around 400rwhp.

                    just my opinion tho

OMG you can fit a LS2 in their wow. Welas far as the trans just install diff size gears in the trans or add a 2.55 rearend gear. I drove a Solstices befor. I dont even see they have a 2nd gear. it last for like 1 sec. then its time to shift.

Also all you need is a T4 turbo and some wide rear tires. The car is about the same size as a honda S2000 . they are great in the 1/4 . Yo tun tend id easy in that car.
