I curious on how many guys have bores out thier LS1 or LS6's to a c.i. displacement of 383?
I have herd that people have been doing it and I would like to know if anyone here has taken that leep?
I bought a 2001 LS1 for 500.00 and all I need to do is put it back together but I would like to modifiy it before I do.
I know I can do a 427 for 2200.00 + parts but if I can do a 383 with out digging out the sleves I would.

    Anyone?

          408 's are made from a Iron 6.0 block. 402 from an aluminum ls2
Ls1 ls6 are never really bored. Its pretty much a light hone considering a stock bore is 3.898 and max bore is usually 3.905 and sometimes 3.908

383 are nice but don't seem to make big numbers like a 347 or 402. This is said to be due to the stroke/bore being over square.

Well if you wanna stay with that block then do a nice forged 347 and make sure you have a good cam and set of heads and you can make close to 500rwhp with a good combo then spray it with a 200shot or bigger
                Doing less with more

what detriot said. The stock cranks have held almost 1000hp. Get some good rods. diamond pistons, and some ET, TFS, or similar heads and you will have about 450+rwhp and be able to handle 200 shots with ease

Well I have 550 with my setup at the crank now so I'm looking for the 700 + n/a.

hmm...francis's car has gone through a shit ton of bottles of 250 shots on the stock bottom end 8-O a forged motor should be good for well over that!

stroker LS1's don't seem to be worth the $$ in my opinion....a good head cam 347 works just fine(sometimes even better...right larry???)

                          peak numbers mean nothing.

Most off the shelf pistons like DIamonds are said to be rated for 200shots even though we know many have srayed more than that on Hyper pistons.
I don't think Francis went over 200. He was supposed to at the last M event but traction killed that idea

actually, i guess francis won't even smack it at the track, only greg's made the nitrous passes with that car...that last M event they were going to go for a 300 shot but greg forgot to lower the tire pressure and he got there late and yadayadayada.... just wasn't the right day, but according to greg they've been smackin it with 250 shot
