ok so 2 weeks ago im driving to the track. i get to milans road off plank turn left off of plank rd. and clunk whine whine. i spun a bearing.
That weekend i pull the block apart its a rod bearing from cylinder 2. the rod is no longer circular imagine a square with round corners. so that forged rod is toast. my pistons are fine my block has some wear ont he cross hatching which is why its getting deckhoned just touched up. hot tanked. as there was .5 layer's left of the bearing. and the rest of hte bearings were worn to the second layer so they were getting ready to go too, it was just a matter of time.
ive decided to go with eagle part number 12001 unbalanced as their balanced rotating assemblies usually still require some balancing. i figure get it balanced once makes it alot easier. forged 350 crank, forged 5.7 h-beam rods. forged srp .040 over Flat top pistons. which would lead to about a 10.3 compression ratio
comp cams part number 12678-4\
244* 252* estimated 1.6 rocker lift .558 .574
new valve springs. Cam is a solid cam so new lifters as the old cam is fine but he lifters a couple were collapsed.
new torque converter getting rid of hte stock stall. going with a 3600 stall 10 inch nitrous converter.
SFI approved flex plate. gotta conform to safety lol.
im selling my .040" over hypereutectic pistons they have 12 passes, and about 3600 miles on them. they are like brand new still. ... Make Offer.
i have also picked up a new high volume oil pump as the one there now has copper all over in it i dont want to put it back in plus with the new cam and the higher RPM ill be operating at i decided to go high volume.
everythings going to match up fine the heads witht he cam the cam with the intake. it hsould make really nice power.
i cant wait to test it out at the track i should be operational before M10 (www.migmevent.com)
1000 miles engine break in to make sure everything seats properly and everything is smooth. will mean if i get my parts weds or thurs. they go straight to the machinist. friday or sat ill pick the block up. sat or sunday start putting it back together by the end of next week, ill be running again hopefully. i do have to measure for new pushrods but alls going well.
