  • Back from the shop

Well just got back from the shop to pick up my camaro ...and got some good news and some bad news

The good news is I got my power locks and everything else fixed

The bad new is when they were going to do a engine tune up..they discovered something

When I 1st got the car , the guy said everything is fine and nothing to worry about. When I was driving the car I heard a knocking sound and didnt think it was anything major. The guy told me that my engine is going bad is and about to blow (has tons of miles on it already). And the guy who owned the car before put some thick or some kind of oil or something into the oil to make it so the engine wouldnt be making this noise. So I got hit with the news that I can do whatever I want. Get a new oil pump etc, but it wouldn't help the sound

So I am going to have to burn a lot of my money now that I planned on for the apperance to get a used motor which really sucks..hopefully same size, I wont want to go back to a 2.8

That really sucks, but look at it this way, you can upgrade.

at least upgrade to a 3.8l instead of sticking with the 3.4l

I might stick with the 3.4.3.8 sounds nice, but..engine size doesnt matter to me..but I am NOT going back to a 2.8...the guy that fixed it is making some calls to get some prices for me...just dont believe the lil **** lied to me saying the engine was rebuilt.

Yeah, stuff like that happens and it's a *****.

"The only thing this car needs is rotors"

Well, when I replaced the rotors I noticed the sway bar was completely trashed, and hanging on by a thread. Also, it has a 1" lean to the left I didn't notice, so yay, new lowering arms springs and struts. (not sure which it is, so what the hell, I'll do em all)

Anyway, stuff like that happens, and I guess it's something that I'm going to take into consideration when buying another car. Also, if I can't take it to a mechanic for a check out, I'm not buying it, lol.

common con artist trick, I'd have the trans checked also.I have always had a theory if one major item doesn't work (power accessories are major) then the car is worth half what I would pay normally.I also figure if something like that is bad and there is any noise from teh engine it's junk (never believe the seller when tehy say a noise is normal or nothing to worry about, unless it's an early ls1)

Thankfully, I have a trusty place to turn to that will check out everything for me before I purchase....

              Hopefully everything works out....

                fixer upper

i just assume when i buy a car specially if its over 10 years old. a kid owned it or a sports car.. plan on getting new everything.. with mine i didnt even try to use the stuff on it save my self a tow. new power steering, alt, water pump, battery, rebuilt the trans new carb and top end of the motor... and ive had a few problems but nothing leaving me calling up AAA for help. cant trust anyone these days. heck i tint the windows and put a fart can on some cars just to get a teenager to give me a few extra hundred...lol
