OK, Ive never pretended to know anything about a transmission, its always been one of those gray areas I don't like to mess with. And its been YEARS since I've owned a manual. That being said...
My wifes Firebird has a T-5 in it, with a hydraulic system. On the way home the other night, she says she heard a "pop", and now the car won't go into gear. I wen and checked it out, it will go into first, but that's about it. So I limped it home (couple of miles), and did some minimal checks.
The fluid was about a third of a quart low, enough to fill the reservoir and some of the tube, some bubbles came up when I dumped the fluid in. There is some slight vibration/ chatter from the trans, if you depress the clutch slightly, that goes away. It still won't go into any gear but first. Now, I would guess clutch? But why would first gear still work? I'd hate to pull the clutch to find it was actually something else. So how do I narrow this down?
