  • The build goes on

I guess one could call this a continuation/start of a build log. Today I took the day off sold my Monte Carlo didn't need it anymore after buying a truck in February. I'll call this phase two being that phase one was the repaint I did a couple years ago. I've repainted my smoothed/modified engine bay. More on that later.
    Heres where I am at.

Deleted the cup holder and relocated the cigarette lighter. Wrapped in carbon fiber ready for a couple layers of resin then a tinted clear to tone the cf down a bit.

Then i I began mocking up my hotside. Alternator stays down low with these manifolds and yes I'm keeping AC.

    Phase one link here:

Engine pics. Details delete hood strut mounts going to use 6LE hood prop hinges. Smoothed the drivers side strut tower to look smooth like the passenger side. Relocated the fuse box in the area where the air pump sat.

    Color shot.

Now that I have squared up and taken car of my debt I have removed my Camaro dash to prepare for my T/A dash and door panel swap.

What are you using the piece of stock for that is welded to the T4 flange?

Seats are actually Jonny's old seats that he ordered from 6LE.

The bar was used for mocking the midge pipes to the location of were we wanted the turbo to sit in the car. It's getting cut off once the pipes are welded to the flange.

Here's a little more insight on what I'm doing. I have finished up bracket to hold my fuse box in its new location. I've started my custom PCM and wire mod cover as well. Next thing to fabricate is a cover for the body harness that runs from the interior to front end on the drivers side. Here's a couple pictures of my progress.

Not the finished part. But it's finished in the sense that there is no more body work needed on this cover.

Nice work!! I was wondering about those 6LE hinges and if it takes 2 people to close hood since you have to "unlatch?" the piece that holds it open?

01badbird I've been told the hinges are easy to use and one person can operate them.

Console nearing completion...3 coats of clear that will be block sanded smooth then I will spray 2-3 coats of tinted clear then finished with a coat of satin clear to dull the cf down some. First of many pieces that will be done in CF.
