The y-pipe not fitting is the cars way of telling you it wants true duals. Clearly.

My final review on the headers and y pipe:

I've been driving the car for a week now. Although I am stock height, I drive my car all over and nothing has hit the ground. As expected after any header install, the car pulls harder.

The K member required a little bit of grinding on both sides. Denting the frame rail was not necessary. The driver side took more grinding than the passenger side. The only reason I did some grinding on the passenger side is because they just didn't want to get up in there. After they were in, they bolted in easily. Driver side required grinding because it was pinching more than I liked and I did not want to listen to anything banging around. With a tubular K member, this install would be a breeze in my opinion.

Spark plug access is great. #8, 7, 6, 3 and 1 are easily accessible from underneath. I had the most trouble with #2 because the A/C piping was in the way of my hands. I got it eventually though. I've heard bad things about #5, but I had no problem with it. I also run

I did not like the y pipe however. It may have just been too awkward of a piece to bolt on when the headers are already tight. I wish I would've had the car higher in the air, would have maybe been a touch easier. I ended up taking it to a shop. They couldn't get it to go on either, so the y pipe was welded at the collectors. The y pipe also hit the rear mount on the trans so it had to be removed.

In the end, I have to recommend these. This was my first header install and I really didn't have that hard of a time. The header installation was smooth as butter. I may have gotten a 'bad batch' with the headers which made the y pipe not fit correctly. Don't care, I'm pleased.

The parts I used: 12 inch O2 extension, ARP 400-1109, Fel-Pro 1406, NGK Spark Plugs 3951 (TR55), and UMI EGR block off plates. The ARP bolts I used allowed me to use a 5/16 wrench with no problem. The O2 extension is only need for the passenger side.

Wear a long sleeve shirt, pants, gloves, mask, and of course glasses when grinding. I wore shorts and a t-shirt and I regretted it.

I actually prefer as many pieces of molten hot metal in my face as possible.

But in all reality - safety glasses are a must - however I always do that kind of stuff in shorts, a t-shirt and flip flops.

Thought I'd give an update on how the headers are looking after almost two months of daily driving.

                    I still like them

Man you have tons of clearance on the steering shaft! Good job Superman09 fixing this design. The headers i helped install were probably a full inch outboard in that area... Not even close to fitting!

Lol oh jeez. I have the ls1 shaft which is a significant upgrade over the lt1 shaft. I had the lt1 shaft on it before to just see if it would work and it fit with room, not as much as it has now.

I didn't get a picture of the y pipe, but it still looks new. I need to figure out a way to install another hanger since I had to remove the one that is on the trans. That's a winter project though. OU PD is loving my car. I got pulled over today! [emoji38]
