Does anybody have some advice for replacing a parking brake cable? Last year I pulled it up too far and it snapped(I believe). It's a 97 M6 Z28. Thanks in advanced!

It's not hard to do. An 11mm wrench can be used to depress the end fittings of the cables so you can pop them out of the brackets. I can't remember if these had a self adjuster to watch out for. It can cause the mechanism to snap forward but if you broke a cable it is probably already forward. Just don't want to pinch any fingers when it does that.

Never knew about the 11mm thing, using a screwdriver on jackstands it's a real pain.

Alright man, thanks for the heads up.I'll be doing spring time, not enough room in the garage. Just wanted to know what I'd be dealing with [emoji1]

I worked at a park brake supplier for 12yrs. We used to make these f-body park brakes/cables. We used to have wrenches in the garage that had a slot cut out so you could get them over the cable strand and release the cable conduit. You can make do with the open end of the wrench too. Still way easier than the screwdriver for 2 or 3 of the prongs that lock the cable in place.

Sounds like a perfect application for the offset Harbor Freight wrench I never use...

Ding, ding, ding. Our garage tool was an offset wrench with a 3mm or 4mm slot ground in the middle for the cable to fit through.
