I don't believe the flywheel bolts knocking would change speed when the rmps go up. Mine were loose and it was a constant knock that didn't change speed. But im not sure... I got a long piece of wood, got under the front of the car, and held it to the bottom of the bell housing and my ear. If you hear it loudy through the wood it may me it.Last edited by Sbaileyls1ta; October 31st, 2014, 09:33 AM.sigpic

I might be wrong but it could be a busted flywheel. take the bolts out of the torque converter, push it into the trans as far as you can and look at the flex plate.
Like I said, I might be wrong but a bent rod will follow the rpms exactly, a busted flex plate will have some irregularity to it.
It doesnt sound good wharever it is

Try pulling one plug wire at a time. If the sound goes away or quiets down, you have rod knock.

Does that actually work? Logically the engine parts are still reciprocating so it should still knock. If it works that awesome because it's easy! Running on 5 cylinders won't hurt anything either?Originally posted by hoogiesngrinderz View PostTry pulling one plug wire at a time. If the sound goes away or quiets down, you have rod knock.

It is only a test, do not go around with 5 cylinders. The knock happens when the combustion slams the piston/rod down on the journal.Originally posted by Megatron View PostDoes that actually work?
