  • got burned on a used rear end

I bought a rear-end supposed to be a 3.73 , cant find anything on the web?
    40:1326268 & the number 5251 and just a big number 4 ?
I would like to buy or build a posi 3.73
who do I go to in the Dearborn area ?
if someone can help please. now I have my GU2 rear end that was on my car with disk brakes
and I have another with drum brakes, the one with drum brakes don't seam right. when I turn the studs (where the wheel would be) the end where the drive shaft would bolt on to don't turn, but it did when I bought it, would that have anything to do with gravity or the way I have it on jack stands?

Not a limited slip. Is the other side Turing the opposite direction

I'm betting 40:13 is the ratio (40 tooth ring, 13 tooth pinon) meaning you bought a GU3 3.08 rear end.

ill take a better look and let you guys know, my stock is a GU2 2.73 disk brake with a G80 code? is that good? the G80 part.

I don't think ill be over 350 HP, I just want to have a little fun, I know a 3.73 would help. is it worth investing in my rear end?

You can't use that carrier unless you get the specific 3.08+ gear made for a series II carrier (thick ring gear)

So what do I have, a series ll?
Is that good? I want a 3.73, sorry with all the questions, I just don't know anything about a rear end, except how to take it out and put it back in.

Just need to order gears made for the series II carrier instead of series III

Hard to say, but I think $130 is a bit much for a 3.08 open diff with drums.

The last rear end I picked up was $160 for a very clean 3.42 open diff with discs. I swapped in a truetrac carrier in it and called it good.
