EGR Fail on 3800

The 02 I just bought is the first fbody ive ever had an EGR on so please excuse some ignorance here.

My ses light is on because or failing EGR, so basically
i just rip the system out
plug it up with these : http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/pr...ff-Plates.html
and get a flash from pcm for less or something to eliminate the lights?

Yep basically. My pipe had actually corroded through so there was no way to fix it properly, not that I wanted to. I never got around to tuning the code out, though. Your SES will stay on solid until you do.

A cheaper alternative is this part, they are out of grand rapids.

It worked for me but I had to sand down one of them so it fit around the bolt here. If you have a big gap like this you'll have to flip the plate over and re-thread the bolt. I remember it was a little annoying to get lined up right but didn't take very long.

I think id rather just spend the extra 30$ to have a full on plug. But thanks for the help!
