  • Squeaks... Help

My car makes this terrible squeaking sound, always has since I've owned it. Any thoughts?

It's only between 1600-2100 rpm and is mostly heard on decel while driving, but can be heard at sustained rpms standing still in the driveway.

    Video in next post.

It might be your ac compressor clutch if it's an lt1

This happened to my car a few years ago, eluded me forever.

Possibly bearings in the alternator? Bearings in the tensioner pulley?

I can't see the vid, but what you describe is a lot like when my AC compressor went.

Guys he has a 2000 Trans Am, it's an LS1.

Also, in his video - there's no belts hooked up, so it can't be any of the accessories like alternator or A/C

                          Found the problem!

Only 3 of the 4 primaries on the headers are fully welded 360* to the collector. The 4th is only welded about 270* around. This makes sense because I'm sure they have access to all 360* of the first three, then the fourth they just get as best they can.

Well I lobbed some anti-seize in the un-welded area on the fourth and the whistle/squeaks went away. I had to do this for both headers.

Now this is obviously temporary and I've already blown the anti-seize out when I rev'd over 4k. The plan to fix this is to first call QTP and see if they'll help me out. If I can't get any movement there, I'll pull them and see if a shop can braze them closed.
