  • change the plugs and wires

Ok I need to know how change the plugs and wires on a 1995 LT1 camaro. What is the easiest and quickest way to do it. Thanks.

  • #2
I just swaped the LT1 in my 95 3.4 V6 camaro. The LT1 has 54k miles on it and I didnt think that the plugs and wires would need changed so I didnt do it now I have it all put togher and it runs like shit. Its not changing gears right either/ its an automatic trans, changed filter and fluid. It starts up ok but has no power and is running realy rough. It changes gears at like 3500 rpms into second gear. Im sick from the money and all the work I did. I stripped the wrecked camaro I bought and stripped my camaro bought all parts as needed all in 7 days. If anyone has any helpful info please let me know thanks.

Not trying to be a smart ass here, but, you just swapped out motors and your asking how to change spark plugs and wires? Am I missing something here?

You said it was running like crap.....Are you getting any codes coming up on the PCM?

the wires are a pain to change
it could also be the opti which is very common

If your light is on, first place I would look is at the codes. Often when a swap like this takes place, something get's missed. Beg or borrow a scanner if you don't have one.

He is talking about an OBD II Scanner that reads stored error data.

If that data is not detailed enough than you may need to find a dealer/mechanic than has the equipment to read the data coming from the sensors Live.

Sometimes the live data is the best way to find the problems on these computerized cars.

you can get all 4 plugs on the drivers side fairly easy from the bottom. the passenger side is much harder, take off the alternator to get the front one from on top, then the back 3 from the bottom which is the hardest part. wires arent too bad just run a new one where the old one was.

Ok after messing with it all day there is an electical problem where the car shuts completely off no power to anything and if you put the jump box on the battery terminals nothing happens. When you put the jump box to the little red box with the plus on it and conect the other one to the ground wire on the wheel well it starts up.

Second is the car is not responceive at all hardly no power. you cant even brake stand it to burn tire theres no power. Runs ok in park but when its in gear it gets real rough. Does anyone have any ideas of what is causeing this problem. Could it be a opti or plugs and wires.

Sounds like you have a cable issue....check all your battery cable connections. No power to anything on the car is usually a bad cable or ground.

Yeah, so did you check them? Start going around with a mulitmeter to see where you losing the voltage.
