Granted, I did gather parts over a period of time and doing so saved quite a bit of money. Great deals can be found

Most are not lucky enough to get hook ups like that, that being said, the OP needs to make the most of what he's got now.
I would finish up bolt ons, gears, converter if A4 and a tune.

Save some money, think about the end goals, and decide how to achieve this.
When I did my cam swap I spent $2500 easily.
    Cam $300
Springs + seats and valve seals $300
    Rockers $350
    Lifters $150
    Pushrods $125

    Machine Work $200
Gaskets, fluids, shipping costs on parts, and a tune.
    It adds up quick

    Other stuff I did
Oil Pump w/ pickup tube, brace, drive, billet drive holder thing
MSD wires, cap & rotor and coil

    +2 cylinder mod

Thanks for the suggestions....sounds like what im gonna do. Actually at this point in my life i have no clear idea of what exactly i want to get out of my lt1, so this will give me time to research and plan it correctly....
      Thanks,
      Stephen

This might sound stupid but besides long tube headers, what else is considered full boltons?
        Thanks,
        Stephen

cold air intake, intake elbow, air foil, throttle body?, headers, exhaust, and according to some rockers.

I probably missed a few but that is a start for you.

Thanks guys for the info....as far as rockers and torque converter, could either one of you recommend a decent setup?
              Thanks,
              Stephen

Pick a very reputable company for the torque converter, such as Yank, FTI, etc. You get what you pay for.

As for rockers: Comp, Crane, Harland Sharp, higher end Scorpion, etc. I went with Comp's cast aluminum 1.5 (didn't want 1.6 due to my cam profile/lift) roller rockers because they would work well in the RPM range I wanted to run. 1.6's will have a bit more strain, but you will need self aligning rockers with a stock head setup.
