take out your multi meter and put the + terminal and - terminal to each respective post on the battery. it should read 14.4 volts (or somewhere in the neighborhood). If you're reading less, either the alternator is shot or it's not connected properly. Is the ground corroded?

is the belt properly threaded and turning the alternator the proper direction?
When in doubt, Whip it out !

first check belt routing (way it goes around pulleys) and if only changed out because of condition check length against old one like mentioned above might not be getting enough tension (if lil long). also i prefer gatorback belts and belt dressing (keeps from slipping) Good luck!!

Thanks for the help guys....the battery measured 14.58 volts at the battery. Turned out to be a broken alternator wire that had been taped up. I just happened to be checking all the wiring and as i was feeling on the red 8AGW it fell apart lol...Someone had apparently just twisted 2 pieces of wire together and taped it up. Anyways, i replaced all hot wires and cleaned battery terminals and now it is running excellent. Now if i could just get the energy to change my opti out lol...Thanks again!
            Thanks,
            Stephen
