How can a '93 model car be a 1997 pace car? Pace cars are usually from the factory and we usually don't provide 4-year-old car for NASCAR to use as pace car. Also, I thought WS6 came out with Camaro SS from '96. I guess it's a fake pace car? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice looking 'bird.

              I'm gonna call

If this picture proves anything, a Grand Prix was the '97 Daytona Pace Car. And USUALLY the same cars were used for Speedweeks.

              http://www.theunions.com/daytona97.html

But the T/A does look legit. You're right, they wouldn't use a 4 year old car to pace the real race, but was it really a Speedweeks car? Was the GP just a late addtion to the mix and didn't make it on time? A 24-hour pace car?

Needs documentation to be worth anything, but an interesting car.

Ok everyone, I'm digging this one up from the grave.

Over the past 6 months I have been in back/forth contact with the dealer who now has this car, and have been trying to negotiate a deal on it.

Unfortunately, we are still pretty far apart in terms of what I'd be willing to pay, and the least they are willing to take. ($7500 vs $9200........I figured $7500 was more than fair for a 26,000 mile 6spd Hardtop Trans Am, that didn't have any documentation to back up their claim.)

I love the look of the car, but I too really question it's validity as a true "Pace Car", and of course they have failed to offer any real proof that it was. If they had or would I'd be down there tomorrow to pick it up at their price.

The big question that lingers is...... How did a '93 Trans Am ever end up being a '97 Pace Car???????????

I know for a fact that in '96 there was a Trans Am Daytona Pace Car, and it was called a Black Bird (see info below). What I can not find is anything on the '97 Speedweeks Pace Car, this is where you guys come in, does anybody know anything about this???? And what do you think, am I off base with my offer??

Hmmm, thats a tough one to gauge a price on, there aren't that many low mileage LT1s left. If I had to guess I would say anywhere in the 7500-8500 range. Now, thats, just a regular low mileage LT1 car. If it really is a pace car, I think that the 9200 is a deal, and it will be worth more in the future. But, thats if they can provide documentation that it is indeed a pace car, which I don't think that it is.

Question - Scott, is the one you pictured the car you're trying to pick up? I don't know for sure but I could've sworn they didn't have the WS6 package until '96. How is it that this 1993 has the WS6 hood and ram air intake?

Thats what I was thinking. While its a very clean car, seems to be an awful lot of unanswered questions.

Yeah it is, and yeah that's a big ??? too. I'm really leaning towards somebody did this thing up themselves. I just can't figure how the factory or the track would've converted a '93 to '97 specs.
