  • GM rear differential additive..?

I picked up some supplies today for changing my rear differential oil in my 95 Z. it has just your run of the mill stock 10-bolt rear end. After doing some research, I discovered that most said that SAE 75W-90 Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube was a good choice of fluid. However, it was unclear whether or not a GM limited slip additive needed to be used as well.

so my question to you guys is should I use it or not? I'm hoping someone has some experience with doing this and any tips would be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

I believe Mobil already has the LS additive already in it..read back of bottle.

I used valvoline and it had it, so I didn't bother to go buy the GM

    Royal purple also has it

As far as filling it the space sucks. I bought this tube thing you put onto quart bottles (can buy it at Walmart and parts stores) made it filling a little easier. When it came to the bottom of the quart it was hard to figure out an angle to get it all in. So I poured the gear oil into a vernors bottle and had the more room to play with. Just squeeze and go..and hope to god you don't get the stinch on your skin. Buying some latex gloves will help you stay clean.
