Hey everyone I'm in the process of replacing my timing cover gasket. Everything so far has gone good but when it was time to lower the pan I went to loosen the front corner flange bolt and it snapped in half!! All the other ones came off great. What are my options? Rtv that corner? ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21366383724.056301.jpg

two options, take a chance on rtv and hope it doesn't leak, or try an ezout or helicoil and fix it right. Maybe try a lefthanded drill. When in doubt, Whip it out !

Honestly I think your only option is to try and get the rest of the bolt out. Is there any portion of the bolt sticking out of the engine block or did it break off below the "surface" ?- Brian Meissen

Oil pan bolt broke. Help!
Ill check more closely when I get home tonight. But from what I recall none was sticking out. If I used a bolt extractor as mentioned. What's a good process for this. Use a punch then drill a 1/8 hole then turn the extractor into it?

just to share my results I ended up successfully extracting the broken bolt. I managed to get the timing cover off for the first time, and from what it looks like the pan gasket is intact. The corners are a little weak but I planned on putting rtv there anyways. Feels great to save 1000+ for this job that shops were quoting me!!IMG_3578.JPG
