(97' 3.8L camaro, manual trans, odometer reads 383046, but it has read that number since 2009. Engine was replaced probably around that time with a used one. Unknown actual miles on engine.)
It started last week after driving for about an hour. Got off the expressway and when I went into third gear and tried to accelerate, it cut out and then began to sputter. Since then, any time I try to accelerate more than slightly faster than a snail, it sputters and cuts out, but has not yet stalled. So far, I have replaced/checked:
plugs, wires, coils (replaced 2 of the three), ICM (Tested OK), Cam Position Sensor, TPS, MAF, IAC, Fuel Pressure is good, all injectors are firing.
I hate to even think it, but could it be the timing chain? I haven't checked the timing with a light, but I will rent one tomorrow and check it.
WHAT CAN IT BE?
