Replace the plug wires. Either use the stock wire loom things or get some aftermarket ones to keep the wires away from the headers. Sounds like you have some heat damage to a couple wires. Does it misfire a little at idle too? Get worse when the car warms up?

Sounds like a lean pop situation

check your wires. if they are burnt or oil soaked youll get a small miss. happened to a friend of mine. one was was soaked with oil or whatever and wasnt giving a strong spark and we didnt notice until we rplaced just about the whole ignition.

alright, any specific wires to order that are a little longer then stock to keep away from headers? misses at idle and as the load increases it gets worse. sounds like 55mph back fires through exhaust but could be a lean pop...

If you're running w/o o2 sensors, and it wasn't doing it before the headers, I'd bet on lean pop. The computer doesn't know where to put the fuel trims, and stay away from getting heavy in the throttle. You're PE is probably lean - don't want any holes in the pistons!

alright, spliciing into o2 sensors tonight and seeing if it runs any better and re-check the plug wires for damage. hopefully its just due to no oxygen sensors hooked up

problem fixed, 2 plug wires were backwards, and plugged the o2 sensors in runs like a champ... cant really notice much difference except the little extra at low end
