I may be a bit bias but I wouldn't ever put a lsx in a ltx car. I like the wow factor of having my ltx.. esp after this winter. I just got back from the ltx shootout, there was a ltx with a carb going low 9s na. Pretty sweet.

Yeah I've pretty much ditched the idea of the LSx now. Its either the LTx or SBC.

The T56 from a LTx will bolt up to any SBC with a 1 piece rear main.

The nice thing about staying LTx is the gauges will all work.

Cause I plan on running a distributor and carb.

In my opinion throwing a carb on a previously fuel injected vehicle is taking a step backward. I would just run a sbc gen if you want to run a carb. What is the use for the vehicle?

Cool, I'm sure no matter how you go you will have fun. I personally would run a sbc. Versatility in cylinder heads, intakes, etc. Less money for those particular parts. If you put a carb on an lt1 you pretty much a vortec headed 350 gen1. Except of course it is bastardized to get rid of the optispark, and all that crud. Seems like a sbc would be the way to go. Good Luck, have fun.

That's exactly why I was thinking SBC. So many options for them and the parts are cheaper because they are everywhere.

Ya absolutely. The cost unit per horsepower unit is amazing for a gen 1 sbc and in my eyes unbeatable. Since you are looking at using a carb it is a no brainer to me. I really don't see a benefit to running a carb on an lt1 other than the unique factor.

im not seeing the benefit... Id be going 24x if anything with your tuning experience. Carb will make less power and mpg in most cases, on top of barely fitting even with a bunch of cutting.

I guess I don't understand how this is even an option. That car was so nice and clean, I cant imagin tearing it apart to put a carb on it.

I think your best choice would be LSX T56 and F/I. Forget the carb idea. You have enough tuning experience that with a 99+ LS1 you could really squeeze the HP out of it. When I see a carb on a lt1 or lsx engine its isn't wow facter, I think what a pity, Junk up modern tech with 1920 technology.

if you want wow factor, install a duramax or an iron duke. Everyone has a LT or LS engine.
