    What could be wrong(this time) with my car?

    Every summer it's something new. Let me preface this by saying that I'm pretty mechanically challenged. I'm hoping to get it running so I can bring it down to the Woodward cruise but I'm pushing time and budget.

    I'm not sure when this current issue started because I have an issue with it every summer. Last summer was poor running followed by dropping a valve in the fall. Got that fixed over the winter.

    I just got a vacuum leak fixed a few weeks ago. A hose under the TB was completely off. The idle was staying at about 2k rpms once warmed up. I was told that could lean the car out driving it with a vacuum leak. Since I got that fixed, I've had a high rpm issue. Is my computer thinking it's still running lean or should that be solved by now? I just changed the fuel filter a few hours ago hoping that might be it. No dice. It runs fine up to 5k rpms then stutters and spits. Last time I had this issue it was an injector. But that was last summer so I hope that's not the issue again.

    Any thoughts?

    Have you put plugs and wires in it? Start with the cheap things....

      I put new plugs in over the winter and I think I did the wires last summer.

        High idle rpm is usually because there's an intake or exhaust leak if memory serves correctly.

          yeah, I had a hose that blew off/never got connected under my TB but that's taken care of. I'm curious though if driving it a while with that leak is what is causing my current issue. If the car 'learned' it was running bad and tried to compensate and now that it's fixed, it's still trying to run that way.

            Did you put a scanner on it and look at the O2 and fuel trim PIDs?

              Its an LT1, if it doesn't have problems then there is something wrong with it haha. If you haven't already i would get a laptop with a obd usb cord so you can datalog the car using freescan or another datalogger. My car had the high idles and it turned out to be the 02 sensors, my suggestion is to datalog like mentioned above and you should find your problem

                Try dis-connecting the battery over nite...re-setting the Pcm might help..
