I recently went to the track just last Wednesday since I just got the car back together. The car was pulling hard, real hard, but for the life of me I couldn't hook. I have a 6 speed with street tires(I know) so obviouslly there were going to be hooking issues. I am ordering some Nitto 555r's or NT05r's this week, haven't decided which ones yet, and that will help drastically. But what are you guy's suspension setups, mostly concerning struts and what not. I already have rear LCA's and removed the front sway bar to help the 60ft time. But regardless, no matter how much I feathered the clutch or how low of R's i let it out at, I couldn't get my 60 ft time below 2 seconds... pathetic. Regardless though, car still hit 110mph and turned a 13.2. Just the new rubber alone will yield 12's for sure. But yeah, what are you running for a good "drag" setup?

easiest / cheapest fix = a slick tire as mentioned /\
if you want the car to work properly on a radial tire that takes a ton of practice and a good set of front and rear adjustable shocks as well as the suspension pieces to compliment them. I would say a large majority of improvement can be made just by you getting a lot of seat time and finding out what the car likes best the nittos will no doubt help but they won't give you the desired results you want on their own.Doing less with more

The problem you have is the rearend. If you get it to hook good, the rear won't last. Obviously, you want a little tire spin to lessen the shock of the launch. My car has the 555r drag radials but an A4 with a 2800 converter. I can leave off idle and maybe turn the tires once. Should keep my rear end happy at least for a little while. M/T drag radials will hook much better than the Nitto's but I preferred the "softer" Nitto launch to save my rearend. When in doubt, Whip it out !

Nitto's will help. Don't expect drastic changes.
I can get low 1.7's out of them but I have full drag suspension. When I had stock suspension they'd go 1.9's - but they helped more with the spin on the shifts.2000 Formula

As mentioned, With a stock rearend once you do get it to hook, next you will need a rearend. If you get a rearend that will take it. Then you can make use of some true slicks, tubular arms with hiems, adjustable shocks, sway bar changes, air bags, etc.

I understand that the slicks hook better with a manual for sure. But exactly as stated, I will eventually blow that rear end out quick with a solid hook off the line, and I'm just not ready to replace that rear yet. That was the whole reason I was considering the Nitto's. Get some light wheel spin through first and bang second hard. At least I would be pulling through first, instead of spinning and not really going anywhere. I think I should stay away from slicks until I get a built rear-end. Make sense or no?!? I do need more time at the track to dial in that launch, but the DR's will undoubtedly help over my BFG Sport Comp's right? I've been dragging bikes since I was 20... and I'm finding out that launching a car and a bike are two TOTALLY different things

they nittos will help just get good at slipping the clutch out and you will make the 10 bolt last longer once you start dumping thats a major shock to the driveline and will start breaking parts.Doing less with more
