  • My rasp is gone

No, I didn't say rash, so no jokes about that. But I finally did get rid of that raspy exhaust sound I've had since I put on the headers and off road Y pipe. Was real bad from 1500rpm to 3000 rpm in first/second gear. But now its all gone. Put a Powerstick muffler in the I pipe right after the Y pipe. Fit in there nicely. Didn't really quiet the car down much, at idle it sounds the same and its still loud under full throttle. I just don't have that nasty raspy sound going through the gears. Ahhhhh. While I was down there I also put in an aluminum driveshaft. My car came with a steel one due to the original 2.74 gears. Anybody need a steel driveshaft?

it does work pretty well, the shop that installed my 3'' cat and catback had to put a little muffler to connect my cat to the y-pipe since they weren't a perfect fit. did a pretty good job of making it sound nice.

I had a magnaflow high flow cat in my 3 inch set up with a borla xr1 muffler and It sounded like pure sex. The cat gets rid of the gas smell out the back and also gets rid of any rasp whatsoever. It was perfect! Had BBK shorties too. The cat was only 60 bucks on ebay and it keeps out any drone at any rpm range. Also has very little restriction. Had a dyno with a cutout open and then closed and it didn't change by even a single drop

I agree, I originally had cats in my true dual setup and it sounded amazing. It still sounded good without them, but it was smoother with them and just had an overall great tone. Only reason I had them removed was one blew out within a few weeks and I just said **** it and had them removed. Any setup I have in the future with a moderate enough cam to use them will have cats.

What kind of y pipe do you have?? I have a bbk y pipe wih long tubes and a magnaflow and has zero rasp. It's usually crappy y pipes.

Any 84-02 f body uses the same length drive shaft with same yoke so he could swap it with is 2 piece shaft.

Don't know the brand of the headers or Y pipe, but the Y does at least look decent. Its probably from the crappy flowmaster cat back that's on the car.

Yea Flowmaster is the worst on these cars.

Was still thinking about finding another cat-back. The car sounds way better without the rasp, but its just not quite right.

I love my magnaflow. IMO it's the best sounding exhaust on the market.
