I was going to mention the cat as well. I have seen bad cats in Camaros yeild similar results.Originally posted by meissenHow old is the cat? My 94's cat is apparently toast. It started rattling and then went out. Totally random idea, not sure if it would be it or not, but worth a throw out.

unless his 97 has an ls1, i doubt he's got coil packs LOL
My .02 is the walbro pump... did you put a mech fuel pressure gauge on it and tape it to your windshield yet? I would wrap mine with a rag, put it under the wiper, so i could see if i was losing pressure... My buddy just went thru 6 walbros, hense the reason i wont put one on my car. With no bucket, ppl were having low fuel in tank issues as well, which could FOR SURE cause your hesitation if it was sucking air!

The reason for the problems with low fuel in the tank is because like you said..theres no bucket! The pump gets hot, and kills itself. Belive it or not..with the bucket system, the pump is submerged. Without it..like walbro calls for..it kills the pump rather quickly. As i stated above with the problems i had with my walbro. Im thinking this is where his problem is.Originally posted by shiftinda93zunless his 97 has an ls1, i doubt he's got coil packs LOL

alright, just read all the messages.
I dont have too much going on tommrow, so Im going to take a look at the fuel pump, make sure its all still hooked up. Ill also try to somehow get a pressure gauge to check that out. Would it be a good idea to somehow get the bucket in there. It came with a few different grommits on the pump, but didnt really fit "Good". Thats why I didnt bother?????
I dont think it would hurt me to put some of that injector cleaner throught it too, cause im sure it could use it.
Oh yeah, Ill check the cat too, see if it rattles at all...
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP SO FAR GUYS.....i just would like to put my car away this fall running great, and not knowing ill have to deal with it next spring when I miss it and just wanna drive!!

You'll see if your pump isnt hooked up proberly. if you pull it and everything looks good..then i would look into a pressure gauge. Goodluck. Keep us updated.Originally posted by silver6_maroalright, just read all the messages.

pressure gauge is so easy to just screw on the end of your rail... such an easy check...

I know its easy, but we dont have one in the shop, we always use my dads buddies...but he is gone right now, so in a few days hopefully.

I checked the fuel pump, and everything was hooked up right, and I just quick rigged the bucket back up to see if that helps.....who knows.....
I also looked at all the wires, and they are all in great shape and plenty far away from the headers.
Last, I banged the cat around a little, but cant hear it rattle in there...but im prolly going to change that anyways next spring.
Ive still gotta get some injector cleaner to run through, just because.

I think it is your catco cat messing ya up. It might not be broken, but it could be clogged up a bit. Or you have an injector sticking a bit maybe and flooding the cylinder which creates your bog. Might also be an 02 sensor not getting a good signal at times and cuts the engine some.------------------------------------------

Hey, I was just reading about the fuel bucket over at racetronix site and it basicly said that removing the bucket is a bad idea because causes just the kind of problem your having. If you havent yet I would recomend putting that thing back in if you can.The Chevy Camaro was built with a single purpose in mind which it executes flawlessly...Going very very fast in a straight line until your hair catches on fire.

Yeah i already did that last weekend instead of the lansing meet while it was puring out. So ive been driving it for a week now, and Its only done it once yesterday. I think it may have helped, but im going to get a new cat because i think its old and clogged.Originally posted by YoshiBearHey, I was just reading about the fuel bucket over at racetronix site and it basicly said that removing the bucket is a bad idea because causes just the kind of problem your having. Just get a cat-less y-pipe...if they make them for the 3.8's. It not like a cop is gonna crawl under our cars..too low to the ground.Originally posted by silver6_maroYeah i already did that last weekend instead of the lansing meet while it was puring out. That and Michigan doesn't do smog testing and all that california nonsense
i normally would say "off with thee cats"...but to be completly honest, i don't know how "interesting" a V6 car would be with a strait through exhaust (for the most part) might sound kind of raspy.....1998 Camaro SS Bullseye Turbo
