  • Problem with boggin down??

Alright, for like 300-400 miles now, every so often my car bogs down really bad. I recently put a walbro intank in it, about 1000 miles ago. The first time it happend (about 400 miles ago) the ses light started blinking, and the car seemed like it was running only 3 cylinders or something. It made a funny sound like a car with a huge cam at idle or something. The first time was around like 10-20 mph. So i didnt think too much about it. The ses light went out the next time i was in the car. A few days later I was cruising like 60mph, and all the sudden it bogged for a few seconds and came back??? light and all and went away? It seems like it happends at least once a week and maybe twice.??

Before you ask, I havent used my nitrous for a long time, because i wanted to change the pump first. So I havent sprayed in prolly 2000 miles. I changed the plugs too, thinking that might help, but didnt. Im too scared to fun my nitrous becaues i dont want anything bad to happen.

Its got almost 110,000 miles on it now, and has ran good ever since i got it with 86000 on it.

Any ideas....its not all about the nitrous, i just want it to run like it should...like a good 3800 V6.

put a fuel pressure gauge on it. tape it to the windsheild and set what it is when the issue occurs

How old is the cat? My 94's cat is apparently toast. It started rattling and then went out. Totally random idea, not sure if it would be it or not, but worth a throw out.

Dont forget the ignition system. I had a simular problem with my car, I thought it was the plugs as well but it turned out be a dead sparkplug wire. Although I never had the random bogging problem just low power at W.O.T in six gear. but I did have that funny huge cam noise because I had a dead cylinder. The randomness could be caused by a wire thats "wiggy" not fully dead. Although I dont think that explains the S.E.S light

I put a cat on it with the headers and magnaflow exhaust. That was probably......umm.....about 3-4 years ago????

Its a catco, if you need to know.

Ive had it at WOT and it seems to run alright....kinda sluggish, but it might be in my head a little too.

blinking ses light means a misfire i think... did you replace your wires too? id say either wires or possibly a coil pack. definitly ignition though. just my thoughts...

Wouldnt it do it all the time though if it was ignition? It will run fine for 2 days, running it hard too, but only once and a while it will bog. I put wires on it when i put the cat on it (accel wires). I guess im just thinking that if it was an ingnition problem, it would be doing it a lot more or all the time???

I figured I put about 20,000 miles on the cat since the cat was new, and i guess the wires too.

Is there a way to test the ignition/coil packs to se if they are working right??

i didnt realize you have headers... are you sure none of the wires are burnt? i went through 2 sets of wires when i first put my headers on. it would do the same thing i have no idea why, itd run fine sometimes then real bad other times. check and make sure none of the wires are touching the headers. look for spots on the wires that are melted or cracked. that would definitly cause your problem

I just did that last week when I changed the plugs...ill check again to make sure they didnt move, but i looked them over good because with headers it is easy to happen.

But say I find a burt wire of something, would that just randomly cut spark at all speeds and stuff. And all the sudden start working again after 3 seconds

Alright well last night I was commin home from GR, and it did the boggin like 5 times just on the way home.

Im starting to think it might be something with the fuel system....just because it started happening after the new fuel pump, and it als seems like it does it more when Im low on gas. Also, I can almost predict when its going to happen becaase I give it gas and let of at like 60, and 1 second later after it hits overdrive, it boggs for a sec. ---and the ses light isnt comming on for it?

Hopefully this weekend I can open up the trap door and look at it all

Does anyone know if other people have problems with the fuel pump With the bucket gone. I just attatched the pump to the bracket and took the bucket off. Could this be causeing this????

Any more ideas with the fuel system, or anything????

dude, one of my catco cats didnt last two months. I seriously put less than 1k miles on with my headers before i was under the car with a sawzall. Get underneath it and punch your cat(s) and see if they rattle. rattling is a tell tale indicator. If it doesnt rattle, you can pretty much eliminate that as a possibility. IMO, it doesnt sound like a cat issue to me, but i figured id throw that out there.

This sounds very similar to what my car did last year. I had driven all day and it was fine. I had just left my house to go to eat, i started the car..felt fine, drove normal felt fine..then i tried to jump on it..and felt like it was running on 4 cylinders. I was like wth? I turned around and cruised home and noticed it bogging down a bit. As i pulled into my drive way i noticed my Fuel pressure gauge was reading a 42psi..and bouncing around. I had just installed a walbro pump about 2 mnths back. Come to find out..the walbro pumps blow off the feed line. From the pump the the lines. I pulled my pump out and sure enought he feed tube had completely ripped off from the hose fitting up. It wasnt getting full fuel pressure, just enought to keep it running and causing it to bog. I dunno if the same goes for your car. Goodluck!

My car sluggish when i got it i cleaned the MAF sensor and it made a wirl of difference it would surge and fall flat on its face and if i punched it then it would take right off when. if you do removed the MAF sensor be careful not to break the little elements in there because that will ruin the sensor use break cleaner spray to clean it just spray the elements off because they get dirt build up on them and it makes the computer think the air coming into the engine is warmer then it is and try to compinsate for it when it chould not be but keep the can farther back from it so you are just misting the elements dont use to much pressure because it does not take much to break those elements
