  • Tuning Around Metro Detroit?

I just installed Kooks LT's on my 2000 Trans AM 6spd and then ran a custom cat back and did not install the rear o2's. Only other mods the car has is a lid and bellow and thinking about getting the SLP Maf. Anyway the car smells like shit now "like almost like 2cycle smell after getting off highway and some burning smell (figured that would happen for a little with the headers but smell is always there after being on highway" Either my o2's arnt working or the car just needs a tune bad, Getting terrible gas mileage but figured id lose some when i deleted all my EGR. It runs strong but I did notice if i put it in like 6th gear at low rpm and try to do WOT it will spit and sputter like a cylinder was missfiring or a jolting feeling...

Yes check engine light is on and I havent got to scan it yet and i know you all are gonna say do that first but was looking for a tuner around here.

So im wondering is there anyone local to take my car to for a street tune for now? or maybe am i running into another problem that someone has ran into also? Thanks!

Hmm kind of odd I wouldn't expect the spit/sputter so much after headers/exhaust...maybe more noticeable now that there are no cats? as far as the smell, it just comes along with having no cats to convert/burn excess gases.

Wonder if I have any HPT creds left.....

              Used to own a Firebird.

Deleting the rear O2s would cause an issue, not sure to what extent.

Why did you delete the rear O2s? The wires wouldn't reach? They sell extensions or longer wires so you can hook them back up

Um - why would he need rear 02s if he deleted the cats? They are cat monitors.

You can do either or. The rear o2s can be tuned out or you can install simulators.

PS - Don't fall for the aftermarket MAF games. Stick with stock, there's no need to go aftermarket.

the SLP maf he is referring to is just a restickered Delphi one that come on the trucks and C5 ZO6 cars its just 85mm so its bigger if you ant to save yourself some cash look for them on ebay or used they can be had for around $50.
