If it were me 600.00 labor....half of the money up-front...You have to lift the motor up to get the oil pan down,and then remove the timing cover...It is NOT a easy job to do,If you have never done head gaskets while the motor is in the car..DO NOT TOUCH IT..

I forgot about the timing cover, it would be easier to drop engine out. The put on stand.

I've done it a few times. And just recently on my car. We both settled on $500 if everything goes smoothly. He covers all costs for parts, supplies and whatever breaks.

What ever the dealer chargers I ususally will cut the bill close to 1/2 for the labor.

sound like a fair price. it is a big job. sometimes its just easyer to drop the motor and do the work. now that i have a lift im finding out i can drop a motor and trans in about 3 hours taking my time, same when puting it back in.

100% agree. Having a lift makes it even easier, but even when you only have a cherry picker to use it can be dropped out and stripped down in about 4-5 hours taking your time.

I'll probably just leave in it the car and spend the extra 2 hours working around it.

I don't really want to have some one else's car up in the air like that.

Thanks, I am hoping it'll go as smoothly as everything went on my car. We will see I guess.
Either way, it's free time I have. So it's really just extra money to put into my car or have fun with later.

I tore my heads off and rebuilt them in the car. Was going to do a cam swap in the car but didn't have the money to do the swap. It look me a couple of months. Rofl, because I would go work on it for like 10 mins then go do something else haha. It was winter and I don't have a heater for my garage okay lay off me man! YOU'RE THE LAZY ONE NOT ME! So, got the car today.





Burning coolant for sure. Sweet smelling white smoke, so that pretty much means head gasket right? How else could it meet combustion.

What he did not tell me was, he did a ECTS a week or so ago, right before the issue. He just added coolant, did not bleed it.

I tried bleeding it, water pump was full, rad was a bit low. Filled cold, at warm idle it dropped some.

Since it's a dry intake there really isn't another way. I've never picked up an air pocket doing a temp sensor before though, not saying it couldn't happen.
