Turn the ignition on and wait for the pump to finish priming, about 3 seconds, then fire it up. It should fire up right away.

Exactly right^^^ I replaced my stocker with a Walbro 255lph.. got rid of the bucket and did the whole custom mounting thing. Never had a problem. If it still takes that long to fire after letting it prime, then yeah your pump might be on its way out.

If the fuel pump or regulator is not bad it may have an injector that is held open. Seen it many times on a LT1.

hopefully its not an injector. yeah i have to prime the pump fully twice then start it and it takes about 5secs before it starts which is better then crankin for a bit.

You should put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see how many times it takes to prime the system before rail pressure comes up so the car will start. Also, you'd be able to see how fast it bleeds off and that would give you an idea what's broken. I don't know what rail pressure is supposed to be for your application, but I know 1 pound can be the difference between running and not running.

Also, I believe that rail pressure will drop once the car starts which is normal. Can anyone else add some detail to qualify what I'm talking about or set me straight if I'm misundrstood?

If an injector was stuck open you would know it, trust me. 1psi drop will not cause the car to not start...10psi drop..maybe.Lol

its a rapid drop, hooked a fuel guage to it and primed it and within 10secs it lost all fuel pressure or damn near all but lately i prime it twice crank it for less then 5secs and it starts and runs good.

Not familiar with your setup but if you have fuel rails like the LT1 then you can just unbolt the fuel rail and keep the injectors clipped into the rail. Prime the fuel pump and if you have a leaky injector you'll immediately know. To me it still sounds like the fuel pump.

while looking at data for tranny issue, car stalled, like outta gas but no spit n sputter. took out fuel pump and rubber hose was off... someone diddnt tighten clamp all the way down when they replaced it, and then on top of that they rebuild tranny and left out a few things.... sounds like hack job car.
