  • Brights switch issue

Every time I go to turn my brights on when the car is still a little cold I have to pull the turn signal bar back like 10 times to get my brights to come on. It feels like its pulling a rubber band or something back on a switch. It just seems like a crappy design because I had the exact same issue on my A4 when I had it last year.
Any ideas why it's doing this or how to fix it? It works after only a couple tries if I raise and lower my steering wheel but that sucks to have to do when I'm driving down the road.

Sounds like a bad multi-function switch

The column mounted dimmer switch is adjustable. Try adjusting it closer to the top of the column and it that don't work, the switch is probably gummed up from years of dust and may need to be replaced.

That did it! Had a bunch of crap inside. Almost looks like someone dumped a drink into it

Did you clean the switch with some electronic contact cleaner? Does it work ok now?

Nope just with some good old fashioned compressed c02 spray for a computer case and a tooth pick to dig out the gunk stuck inside. Works great now lol

Lol yea that is exactly what I had to do.. Idk what GM was thinking when they designed these tree branches. It seriously sounds like a branch snapping off when you flick the brights/ turn signal on in just about any 90's car
