  • Ultimate nitrous 3.8l motor

Hello again, here is the situation. I am just brainstorming what I would do to my engine if it were to die on me in the near future. I would make it into a sweet nitrous engine (run 150 shot, maybe dual stage with 75 and 100). I wouldn't want anything to be left out because once I have it apart, there should be no need to rip into it ever again. So I am talking heads/intake/cam/pistons, everything. Here is what I came up with. Let me know if there is anything you think I would need and should add to the list. Spare motor I could do without, just thought it might be a good thing to have an extra in case all hell breaks loose with the built one, lol.

    Item Price Bought From:
    Spare Motor $300 camarov6.com
    HP Tuners $400 HP Tuners
    XP Hot Cam $300 ZZP
Comp Cams 915, 105# Valve Springs $125 ZZP
Comp Cams Hi-Tech Push Rods $96 ZZP
Low Profile Valve Spring Retainers $37 ZZP
    SI Stainless Valves $0 supersixmotorsports.com
    Valve Seals $19 ZZP
    SSM Stage 3 PowerPack $1,600 supersixmotorsports.com
    P&P heads $0 supersixmotorsports.com
    P&P Intakes $0 supersixmotorsports.com
Polish heat treat Crank $75 More Power Inc. (in GR)
    L32 Connecting Rods $259 3800performance.com
    Wiseco Forged Pistons $650 supersixmotorsports.com
Balance/Blueprint Motor $125 More Power Inc. (in GR)
    Cam Install Kit $95 ZZP
    Timing Chain $36 ZZP
ARP Connecting Rod Bolts $100 ZZP
ARP Head Stud Kit $80 ZZP
ARP Main Stud Kit $50 ZZP
Clevite 77 Cam Bearings $15 ZZP
Clevite 77 Main Bearing Set $50 ZZP
Clevite 77 Rod Bearing Set $25 ZZP
Intense Oil Pressure Kit $28 ZZP
    B&M Tranny Cooler $40 AutoZone

    Total $4,505

So roughly $4200 w/out the spare motor. Also ZZP maybe will give me a discount for buying so much. They are only 15 min away from me, so maybe I can talk them into sponsoring me if this ever came to be, lol. No labor costs needed, I would just do it all in my dad's shop, so that saves me money.

Also anyone know where to get some of this stuff cheaper? I tried to find the cheapest places for each thing. ZZP seems to be the go-to place for our parts, lol.

Zooom gives me a discount sometimes depending on what you want. He has always hooked me up with deals and back when i had a 3800 i got a prototype stage 2 TB . I have done business with him for about 4 years. They bought my GM Prototype Aluminum 3800 heads for one of the ZZP race cars.Email me a list and i'll see how much i can get taken off for you.

well I am just making this whole list up at the moment for future use when my engine finally takes a poop. Trying to learn and figure out as much as I can about it all so that everything works good together. I will let you know though if it does happen, lol, hopefully not soon. No money!

Just thought it would be fine little research thing to do, and good to know later on down the road

lol, wow you went digging for this. Well the engine that is being built as we speak is bigger and badder than that original plan thanks to advances in the 3.8l world

Plus this engine I am working on is going to be higher compression than that one

What kind of HP were you pushin with this stuff. I have come to a realization that Travis was at a similiar point of car stuff like 1-2 years ago!
