  • Help diagnos brake problem

Trying to get Yoshi winter prepped. Have limited days off and work schedule sucks for me to get time into working on him so here's the problem right now.

I have no brakes. Car has been sitting since March 25th worked perfectly fine before then. Just topped off with Dot 3 fluid (was pretty low) thought that would do the trick and no.

Brake light is on. Brake go to the floor right now. When I release the pedal the RPM's rise just a tad. Car idles about 1k..only goes up to about 11k-12k.

Any ideas? Didn't notice any leaks as of yet. Cylinder? Leak somewhere since I was significantly low?

Need to get this fixed before Oct 27th :\ (will be out of town untill Nov 1st)

    94 3.4L

Throw at me all your ideas.. I do not want to drive the 98 past Nov1

Will I guess I found what seems to be my leak? Wet near the bottom and the top. Wiped up to make sure it wasnt just an odd puddle..watched and watched..pumped and pumped..and started to devlope again

You can somewhat see a little puddle after blackening this picture with my trusty pointy arrow haha

did you fix it? i bought a 89 firebird back in 2007. i test drove it for about 10 min and meticulously stopped and accelerated, everything rode fine. bought it and headed home. about a mile from his house brakes just totally stopped working, pedal just sunk to the floor. check and check and check again! i hope you solved your problem

Your master cylinder is leaking. Better get it replaced you don't want brake fluis to get into the power brake booster or the brake fluid will eat the diaphram.

I would be able to get away with just replacing that sole part right

Yep, bench bleed the master before you install it and it will making bleeding the system a lot easier. Tap on the bleeder screws before trying to open them.

Googled it. Dont have a vise to hold it in place, but I'll find something around here hopefully to keep it leveled

alot of shops will power bleed for 60$ or less. It might not be worth the hassle to you idk. Just keep it in mind, that was if its not done right you can always bring it back!
